A Fanciful Story of Henry II and His Beloved Fair Rosamonde For lovers of English history, the story of that sceptred isle is filled with tales of heroism, tragedy, honour and treachery, hatred and love. Throughout it all, there too is an aura of romance. That aura surrounds the person of King Henry II and the lady known as The Fair Rosamonde. Henry was the father of the evil King John and of that almost mythical crusader, King Richard of the Lion Heart, sons of his wife, Queen Eleanor, but his favourite son was a child of the love he shared with Rosamonde. One of the tragic legends of Henry’s reign is the story of Queen Eleanor finding Rosamonde in the hidden bower within the maze at Woodstock. The story is that the Queen, knowing of the lovely lady’s relationship with the King, offered Rosamonde a choice between a dagger or a cup of poison. In reality, Fair Rosamonde ended her days in a convent. This story, based on historical facts, tinged with literary license, begins with Henry II’s penitential scourging in Canterbury Cathedral for his part in the murder of Thomas a Becket, and explores what his life might have been with the Fair Rosamonde. Open the book, enter the dim cathedral, and discover it all for yourself. This offering is less severe than many offered on Punishment Spanking, but is a fascinating read for anyone who likes history. It is primarilly M/F with some F/M scenes. Nine
